The Illusion of Perfect Circumstances

Waiting for the perfect time, money, or plan? Ecclesiastes 11:4 says you’ll never harvest if you wait for perfect weather. Here’s why you should start with what you have.

“If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never sow anything and never harvest anything.”
— Ecclesiastes 11:4, GNB

I’ve watched it happen too many times.

Brilliant people with brilliant ideas... doing absolutely nothing with them.

Not because they’re lazy. Not because they don’t care.
But because they’re waiting.

Waiting for the "right time".
Waiting for "more money".
Waiting for "when things calm down".
Waiting for perfect circumstances.

And while they wait, the idea dies.

Let’s Be Honest

I’m not saying be reckless. I don’t support jumping without looking.
But I also don’t approve of inertia. Of sitting there while your dream gathers dust.

The truth is, perfect conditions don’t exist. And if they did, they still wouldn’t be perfect enough.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. There will never be a perfect time to start.
If it’s not money today, it’ll be time tomorrow. If it’s not time, it’ll be "more experience". There’s always one more excuse.

2. You’ll never have "enough" resources.
No matter how much you have, your mind will find one more thing to add. One more course. One more contact. One more ₦100k. The goalpost keeps moving.

3. Start where you are, with what you have.
Your phone is enough to start that content. Your small room is enough to start that business. Your 2 hours on Saturday is enough to start that book.

4. Whatever is worth doing, is worth doing badly at first.
Cars didn’t start as Teslas. iPhones didn’t start as iPhone 15s. Facebook was ugly. No product is perfect from model 1. They started rough, and kept improving. So why are you waiting to be perfect before you start?

5. Our biggest regrets won’t be from what we tried and failed.
Our regrets will be from the things we never attempted. The book we never wrote. The business we never launched. The "what if".

6. Beware of analysis paralysis.
There comes a point where you know enough. You’ve prayed enough. You’ve planned enough. Anything more is just fear wearing a lab coat. Start. Don't learn fear disguised as analysis keep you from taking action.

7. The only thing that comes to people who wait is old age.
Time doesn’t wait. Fortune doesn’t wait. Fortune favours the bold.

So Let Me Ask You

Right now, there’s:
1. A dream you should be starting
2. A book you should be writing
3. An initiative you should be launching
4. A vision you should be building

It’s sitting in your notes app. In your head. On that voice note you recorded 6 months ago.
What’s stopping you?
And be honest... how legitimate are those excuses really?

The wind will never be "just right".
The weather will never be perfect.

Sow anyway.
Start anyway.
Build anyway.

You can fix it as you go. But you can’t fix what you never started.

What do you think?
Which idea have you been sitting on? Drop it in the comments. Let’s hold each other accountable to start this week, not "someday".
